Description
Has the snap hook on your bag or carrying strap broken? There is no need to replace the parts that still work. With a new snap hook, you can repair the attachment and keep using the bag or strap.
The hooks are suitable for shoulder straps and other webbing on backpacks, sports bags, cases and other items with a carrying strap. They can be used as replacement parts or for new sewing projects.
The pack contains 2 snap hooks with matching D-rings.
Choose the right size
The size refers to the internal width of the lower opening on the snap hook, through which the webbing is threaded. Choose the size that matches the width of your webbing:
- 20 mm
- 25 mm
- 32 mm
- 38 mm
- 51 mm
- Take a photo of the old attachment before you begin, so you can see how the webbing should be positioned.
- Remove the broken snap hook. If the end of the webbing is sewn in place, carefully unpick the stitching first.
- Thread the webbing through the lower opening of the new snap hook.
- Fold the end back in the same way as before and sew it securely in place.
- Clip the snap hook onto the existing or supplied D-ring.
If the existing D-ring is undamaged, you can continue using it. If the D-ring also needs replacing, fit it into a webbing loop and sew the webbing securely in the same way.
Laglappen’s tip: When sewing by machine, use a size 100 jeans needle and extra-strong polyester thread. Sew several rows across the webbing, ideally following the original stitching pattern. For hand sewing, use a strong, sharp upholstery or sailmaker’s needle with the same type of thread. A thimble can help when working with thick webbing.
