Curtain wire is a simple and discreet alternative when a conventional curtain pole takes up too much space or will not fit. Cut the wire to the required length, feed it through the channel at the top of the curtain and tension it using the hooks and eyes.
It works particularly well for café curtains and privacy panels in smaller windows. It is also a practical way to hang curtains and lightweight fabric screens in a caravan, motorhome or boat.
With a piece of fabric and curtain wire, you can also hide open shelving, a shoe rack or storage beneath a sink or kitchen island. The wire is also suitable for bed canopies and other lightweight textile projects.
Size and contents
The complete set contains 3 metres of curtain wire, 6 hooks and 6 eyes. The wire is approximately 4 mm in diameter. The hooks are approximately 25 mm long and the eyes approximately 23 mm.
- Cut the curtain wire to the required length using wire cutters. Trim a little at a time to avoid making it too short.
- Feed the wire through the channel in the curtain or fabric.
- Screw a hook into each end of the curtain wire.
- Screw the eyes into the surfaces where the wire will be mounted.
- Hook the hooks into the eyes. If the wire hangs too loosely, trim it a little more.
