A larger hole in a plasterboard wall cannot simply be filled without support behind it. This repair kit covers the hole with a self-adhesive aluminium patch, creating a stable base that can be filled, sanded and painted over.
The kit contains two aluminium patches with self-adhesive fibre mesh in sizes 10 × 10 and 15 × 15 cm. Choose the patch that fully covers the hole and attach it directly over the damage. The mesh holds the patch in place and supports the filler across the hole.
Once the patch is secure, apply filler over it using the included filling knife. After the filler has dried, sand the surface smooth with one of the two sanding discs and paint over the repair so that it blends into the wall.
Filler and paint are not included.
- Remove any loose material around the hole and clean the area. The surface should be dry and free from dust.
- Choose the repair patch that covers the entire hole and makes good contact with the undamaged wall around it.
- Remove the protective film from the self-adhesive backing.
- Centre the patch over the hole and press it evenly against the wall. Pay particular attention to the edges.
- Use the filling knife to apply filler over the whole patch. Feather the filler out towards the surrounding wall.
- Allow the filler to dry according to the instructions on its packaging. Apply another thin layer if needed once the first has dried.
- Sand carefully with the included sanding disc until the transition to the wall feels smooth.
- Remove the sanding dust and paint over the repair with your chosen wall paint.
